About the Event

Fall Virtual Self Care Book Group 6 CEUs

Jessica Cless, PhD and Tiffani Kisler, PhD

Graduate program in Couple and Family Therapy

University of Rhode Island

Self care is absolutely essential for helping professionals. As we continue our journey through

the COVID-19 pandemic we are inundated with new stressors making self care even more

timely. We will be leading a book group on self care. Our selected book is The Resilient

Practitioner: Burnout and Compassion Fatigue Prevention and Self-Care Strategies for the

Helping Professions. We will move through book in a four-part series as we explore and discuss

many aspects of self-care for helping professionals.

By the end of this book club participants will be able to:

1. Identify common sources of both stress and joy in the practice of couple and family therapy.

2. Identify strategies for personal and professional self care.

3. Assess personal life balance.

4. Identify and engage with sources of professional support.
